South African GP in 2009…

Stories regarding a design for an F1-capable racing circuit are making the rounds. A bidding consortium hopes to host a race in 2009. To be built in Cape Town close to the airport, the circuit has been designed by Tilke Engineering. Tilke also designed the Turkish racing track. The South African bidding consortium is confident that a deal could be signed with Ecclestone by the end of this year. Pity Kyalami is no longer under consideration. Rather a Grand Prix in Cape Town than none at all!
