Euro 2008 – Group D first round
Spain showed excellent form in their match against Russia in Group D. The heavy rain couldn’t stop Villa from scoring twice in the first half. The Russians were unlucky, narrowly missing a chance at equalizing at 1:1. Villa managed to complete his hat-trick in the second half. A fourth goal by Spain sealed the fate of the Russians – their lone goal of little use in the overall scheme of things.
A good match, with both teams showing a lot of promise. Spain is strong and should be a contender to qualify in this group.
