LED LENSER P7
Buying the P7 is my second Australian online purchase experience. Very efficient, yet lacking in communication. That seems to be a hallmark of the Australian online business world. The only feedback I received from Led Torches in Melbourne was an invoice and an indication on my account page showing the order status to be completed. No unnecessary mails to inform me of a shipping date or the like. The express mail parcel showed up in the mailbox a few days later. Like I said: efficiency without too much noise.
Designed and manufactured by the German company Zweibrueder Optoelectronics, the P7 measures just 13cm in length and is driven by four AAA batteries. The rather elegant rectangular black box contains the flashlight, four batteries, a carrying pouch and a lanyard.
The LED is very powerful, functioning on a less intense and full intensity mode. Both are selected by pushing the on/off switch situated at the lower end of the barrel. Simply holding that button in causes the LED to shine at full brightness, useful for a quick glance. The beam reaches more than 200m into the blackness and the batteries should last for roughly 120 hours of use. The LED is equally durable and should last a very long time.
In contrast to regular flashlights, the P7 beam is focused by simply pushing the lens forward or back using the Speed Focus feature. No turning or screwing required. Construction is incredibly solid with sufficient sealing to protect the innards from the elements. The flashlight may be dismantled very easily and spares are readily available.
The online price of AUD 95 is hardly cheap, but buys an incredibly compact flashlight with stunning performance. No question that this is the replacement for my MagLite! German precision. What can I say
