A few things that a piss me off about this place:

• pricks at the post office opening packages and peeking inside to see what they can nick. In this case: books, so the content was left untouched. One reason to be happy that literacy levels are low…
• parking lot attendants making absolutely sure they can look to see what you’ve got in the trunk of your car
• traffic – in the morning, afternoon and evening

Ok – rant over.

It should – the fact that it doesn’t means it will die.

Nothing to do with Star Trek. Photon is the internal name for the new Windows Mobile operating system currently in development by Microsoft. Not much is known about it at this stage, other than that Smartphones and PocketPC’s will have a common platform.

Given the inability of new devices to be upgraded from one release of the operating system to another, I would suggest creating a slush fund now for a new gadget in about two years time.

Are the Australians just being paranoid or is the impending bird flu panic justified? With comments such as a pandemic could kill millions of people worldwide and worst projections of mortality still show that 99.8% of people will come through any bird flu pandemic in a reasonable state, one has to wonder…

South Africans will be going to the polls on 1 March 2006. That’s for the municipal government elections.

Happy birthday to someone really special!

This is the first post! Bear with me while I start adding stuff to the site. The look needs some work too. Just using the standard WordPress theme for now.

The primary purpose of this site is to make communication with friends and family somewhat easier. Hopefully there’ll be something of interest here every now and then. I’m really keen to start adding some gadget and tech reviews and notes too. Time permitting, of course! In the meantime, I need to wrap my brain around WordPress to see what possibilities it offers. From what I”ve found on the local installation on my PC, this is one cool piece of software!
